Jean-Philippe “JP” Austin is a talented physician, political figure, and philanthropist.


With over three decades of experience spent towards advancing the causes of progressives, JP is an influential  figure in Democratic politics. He is a dedicated member of the Democratic National Committee and formerly played a pivotal role as the Florida Finance Chair. He is currently the Chair of the Florida Alliance, the state's progressive donor table.


A Harvard University trained Radiation Oncologist, JP is a prominent physician and healthcare professional with a profound commitment to the wellbeing of our nation's veterans. He has a leadership role within the Veteran Affairs Medical Center, the largest healthcare system in the country, catering to over 9 million veterans. As Chief of Radiation Oncology at the Miami VAMC, he chairs the Cancer Center where he orchestrates comprehensive strategies for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer among veterans.


JP has also distinguished himself as a force for change in  African-American and Haitian politics. He plays an instrumental role in shaping the political landscape and brings a wealth of knowledge and strategic vision to discussions on security and cooperation within the United States and the Caribbean. He serves as a Member of the board of The Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC), a Member of the board of The Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, and Chair of the board of the Haitian American Foundation for Democracy (HAFD). His involvement in these organizations underscores a commitment to fostering stability and collaboration in the community and advancing the interests of diverse nations.


A graduate of New York University with a Bachelors of Arts in Economics, JP enrolled at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, where he obtained his medical degree and completed his Radiation Oncology training. He ultimately went on to do a Proton Therapy Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and served as junior faculty at Harvard Medical School.
